ELLEN'S EDGY ELEGANCE
Designer Ellen Truijen makes leather bags and accessoires that stand out because of their simplicity and thought through detailing where the emphasis is on the different leather qualities used. Before venturing into bag design, Truijen worked, among others, as a professional dancer and prop designer in the fashion industry. She started developing her ideas
for bags in the year 2000 and soon found friends and aquaintances eager to get their hands on one of her designs. This prompted her to start thinking about a collection and she founded her own label, Ellen Truijen in 2002.
Leather aficionados are drawn to the collection that is divided into several lines, Ellen Truijen basics and lines that change with every season. Together they make for around thirty different designs. To accomodate the abiding demand for certain popular designs, the basic collection was established. They feature the same designs in changing varieties. The high quality leather used for her products is selected with great care and the bags are handmade in the Netherlands by passionate craftsmen.
Keywords for Truijen’s designs are timelessness, sobriety and simplicity. Bags made of beautiful leather varieties, often with rectangular shapes and fitting names. They are well thought through and have a surprising simplicity. They always have the characteristic two leather straps, creating multiple wearing options. All detailing is functional - but Truijen’s designs are desirable nonetheless for their edgy elegance and emphasis on the varying leather qualities used. Made from soft goatskin to rough suede, these are bags stripped down to their bare essentials. The muted colour palette makes it easy to pair them with any outfit. Arm candy for men and women who like practical, minimalist designs to highlight their personal style.
Ellen Truijen lives and works in Maastricht, in the south of the Netherlands. She was born in Boxtel in 1976. After secondary school she studied
